People Can’t Believe These Stunning Cars Are Made in China

8. Yangwang U9

Yangwang U9

The Yangwang U9 is a full-blown electric supercar made by Yangwang — BYD's ultra-luxury performance sub-brand. Launched in February 2024, it's China's most serious answer to Lamborghini, Ferrari, and Rimac. Designed by Wolfgang Egger — the former head designer of Alfa Romeo, Audi, and Lamborghini — this is not a car that asks for permission.

As of September 2025, the track-focused U9 Xtreme holds the official title of the fastest production car ever built, at any price, from any country.

The Lineup (China Prices in USD)

  • U9 Standard~$253,000, 1,287 hp, 186 mph, Production supercar, street legal

  • U9 Track Edition (2026): 2,977 hp, 217 mph, Regulatory approved, track-focused

  • U9 Xtreme 🔥: Limited (30 units globally), 2,977 hp, 308 mph, World's fastest production car, certified

Why It's a Big Deal

  • Design: Low, wide, and menacing — 4,966 mm long but only 1,295 mm tall (shorter than a Lamborghini Huracán). Butterfly doors, 12 active and passive aerodynamic packages, and a carbon fiber body all around. Torsional rigidity of 54,425 N·m/deg — stiffer than virtually any production car ever made.

  • Powertrain: Four independent electric motors — one per wheel — each generating 240 kW. Total output: 960 kW / 1,287 hp with 1,680 Nm of torque. Torque vectoring so precise it can spin a single wheel while locking the others.

  • 0–60 mph: 2.36 seconds. Faster than a Lamborghini Aventador SVJ.

  • The DiSus-X Suspension: BYD's breakthrough active body control system. Each corner can lift or drop up to 75mm at 500mm per second. The result? The U9 can drive on three wheels if one is punctured — and it can literally bounce and dance to music by synchronizing suspension movement to beats. Videos of this went viral worldwide.

  • Charging: 500 kW peak charging — charges 30–80% in just 12 minutes. Uses BYD's own Blade Battery (LFP chemistry) for unmatched thermal safety.

  • Cabin: A two-seat cockpit in carbon fiber and Alcantara, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, 12.3-inch central display, 14-way adjustable sport seats. Interior color choices: Red, Orange, or Purple. Built for the driver, not the passenger.

  • Track Capability: An uncertified Nürburgring lap of 7 minutes 17.9 seconds in November 2024 — faster than most factory race cars.
