People Can’t Believe These Stunning Cars Are Made in China
6. Nio ET9
The Nio ET9 is a full-size, ultra-luxury electric executive sedan — Nio's equivalent of a Mercedes-Benz S-Class or BMW 7 Series, but reimagined from the ground up for the EV era. Launched in December 2024 and delivering since March 2025, it is quite literally the most technically ambitious Chinese production car ever built.
Think of it as a private jet cabin on wheels, engineered with technologies that don't yet exist in any Western car.
The Lineup (China Prices in USD)
ET9 Standard~$106,000, Battery included, full tech suite
ET9 Signature Edition~$115,000, Special badging, 23" wheels, SkyRide suspension standard
ET9 Horizon Edition: ~$113,000, New 2025 flagship, premium exterior & interior finish

Why It's a Big Deal
Size: At 5,325 mm long with a 3,250 mm wheelbase — it's longer than a long-wheelbase S-Class. A true 4-seat executive layout with a first-class rear cabin.
Power: AWD dual-motor, 707 hp, 0–60 in ~4.3 seconds. Not a drag racer — tuned for whisper-quiet, effortless thrust.
Charging: 900V architecture with peak charging of 600 kW — one of the highest in the world. Adds ~160 miles in just 5 minutes. Or skip charging entirely with Nio's 3-minute battery swap at NIO Power stations.
The SkyRide Suspension: The world's first fully active hydraulic suspension, developed with US company ClearMotion. It processes road inputs and responds in just 1 millisecond — making bumps essentially disappear. At launch, Nio demonstrated it by driving over speed bumps with a tower of champagne glasses on the hood. Not one glass fell.
Steer-by-Wire: No mechanical link between the steering wheel and the wheels — a technology previously only seen in aircraft and the Tesla Cybertruck. Combined with 8.3° rear-wheel steering, the 5.3-meter car turns like something half its size.
AI Chip: Nio's self-developed Shenji NX9031 chip (5nm) — two of them — powering its autonomous driving suite. 31 sensors including 3 LiDAR units and a full AR heads-up display.
Interior: A 48-inch 5K instrument panel stretching across the full dashboard width, a 15.6-inch rotating infotainment screen, a 35-speaker Nio LYRA 8.2.4.8 sound system with 720° immersive audio, heated/ventilated/massaging seats across all four positions, a first-class folding executive table, smart mini fridge, and a rear-row safe with passcode access.
Cabin Noise: Active Road Noise Cancellation up to 1,000 Hz with peak reduction of 14 dB — quieter than most luxury jets at cruise altitude.
