Netflix is adding another psychological drama to its growing slate, and this one sounds built for fans of messy relationships, buried resentment, and emotional suspense.

The streamer has officially unveiled Poser, a new eight-episode thriller series now in production in Los Angeles. Created by Lauren Iungerich, the show centers on a toxic friendship between two former best friends whose unresolved history turns into something far more dangerous when they’re pulled back into each other’s orbit. Netflix describes the series as a sexy, emotionally charged psychological thriller built around envy, betrayal, and the kind of intimacy that can quickly turn destructive.

At the heart of Poser is a deceptively simple setup: one estranged friend gets the chance to step into the life she once wanted for herself — and maybe uncover what really tore the two apart years ago. But what starts as a second chance soon spirals into a tense game of revenge, manipulation, and heartbreak, with consequences that stretch far beyond the pair at the center of the story.

The series is led by Sadie Stanley as Emmy and Daisy Jelley as Taylor, with Annie Murphy also starring as Poppy. Netflix has also confirmed a large supporting cast that includes Joel Oulette, Hubert Smielecki, Sarah Abbott, Barbara Hershey, Julio Macias, Adam Beach, Beth Riesgraf, Michael Trucco, and Nikki DeLoach, among others.

For Iungerich, Poser appears to be one of her most personal projects yet. According to Netflix’s Tudum report, the creator drew inspiration from long-held reflections on a childhood friendship and the complicated mix of love, jealousy, admiration, and resentment that can live inside close female relationships. That emotional contradiction seems to be the engine of the show — not just a thriller hook, but a deeper look at how friendship can shape identity, competition, and self-worth.

Netflix has ordered eight one-hour episodes, with Iungerich serving as showrunner, writer, and executive producer under her Crazy Cat Lady Entertainment banner. Jamie Dooner is also attached as an executive producer.

As of now, Poser does not have an official premiere date. With production underway, more details — including first-look images, teaser footage, and a release window — are likely to follow in the coming months. For now, though, Poser is already shaping up to be one of Netflix’s more intriguing new drama launches, especially for viewers drawn to relationship thrillers where the emotional damage cuts as deep as the plot twists.
