Power Creator Courtney A. Kemp Brings High Stakes Heist Drama Nemesis to Netflix This May
The mastermind behind the massive Power universe is officially making her move to Netflix. Courtney A. Kemp has teamed up with the streaming giant for a brand new crime drama titled Nemesis, and fans of gritty, high-stakes storytelling won't have to wait much longer to dive in. The series is scheduled to hit the platform on May 14, 2026, bringing an intense cat-and-mouse game to the streets of Los Angeles.
The story centers on a collision between two formidable men on opposite sides of the law. Ylan Noel, known for his standout work in Insecure, takes on the role of Coltrane Wilder, a master thief and expert criminal who operates with a chilling level of precision. Standing in his way is Detective Isaiah Stiles, played by Matthew Law of Abbott Elementary fame. Stiles is described as a brilliant and immovable force within the LAPD, and as the two men clash, the series promises to subvert the traditional heist genre. Rather than focusing solely on the mechanics of a robbery, Nemesis aims to explore the deeper psychological drivers that sustain and ultimately destroy those living on the edge.
Kemp serves as the showrunner and co-creator alongside Tani Marole, and the project carries significant weight as the first series born from her major creative partnership with Netflix. The production also reunites Kemp with veteran director Mario Van Peebles, who directed the first two episodes and serves as an executive producer.
The ensemble cast is packed with familiar faces and rising stars. Joining Noel and Law are Cleopatra Coleman as Ebony Wilder and Tre Hale as Darren Stroman. The supporting lineup includes Domenick Lombardozzi, Jonnie Park, Ariana Guerra, and Gabrielle Dennis, along with Michael Potts, Sophina Brown, and Jeff Pierre. With a total of eight hour-long episodes dropping at once, the series looks to deliver a binge-worthy blend of life-or-death stakes, complex family dynamics, and explosive action. As the countdown to the May premiere begins, Nemesis is positioning itself as one of the most anticipated dramatic releases of the year.
